The word “Trivia” popularized by several Columbia University students in the early 1960s, while creating a colligate quiz which was used to test important and unimportant facts. They named these tests “Trivia contests”.

These students in their own right are responsible for the word “trivia” being associated with the games we play today.

The most popular way the game is played is by giving a three or four multiple choice answer, even though the people who really love the game or “diehards” would rather give the answers from the top of their head rather than choosing from several possible answers. This way however could be harder to determine the absolute right answer. If someone answered the question but was not 100 percent right; is he still right or is he wrong since the complete right answer was not given.

This is why most people would rather play with the three or four question based answers. You are either right or you are wrong, therefore you will win or you will lose.

Trivia games can have any theme you would like. They can be sports related, TV show, and movies, random knowledge, celebrity, geography, history, the list could go on forever. The only thing that will hold you back is your imagination.

Where could you play these games? Glad you asked. How about an office party, a family gathering, a birthday party or bridal shower? You can have a trivia game contest anywhere there are a group of people willing to participate. You need to decide what the theme of the game will be, the questions that will be asked and prizes if any, for the winner.
